San Carlos Community Garden, PHHS Garden Club spruce up garden boxes

The San Carlos Community Garden and Patrick Henry High School Garden Club teamed up recently to spruce up the garden boxes at the Brew Coffee Spot in La Mesa.

“Brew Coffee Spot has supported the Garden for many years, and now provides discounts to all SCCG members” said Kelly Wood, SCCG Board Member. “When Joe Paraiso (the owner, pictured in top photo with baseball cap on) reached out and asked for our help with garden boxes we thought it would be a great opportunity for us to give back to one of our community partners.”

“We’ve been part of the San Carlos Community Garden just about as long as we’ve been open (six years),” Paraiso said. “It’s been fun supporting the Garden with coffee and tea for their events and raffle items from our shop. We really appreciate the beautifully upgraded patio planter boxes created by the students at Patrick Henry and the SCCG.”

Succulent expert Sue Thomas also donated an assortment of plants and provided educational guidance to students.
